PLAYERS:

Player Conduct

Welcome to the Highland Recreation Youth Sports Program. We hope you have an enjoyable, educational, safe season.  In order to accomplish this, all participants must work as a team.  If the coaches, officials, and players work together you will find at the end of the season you will have matured not only as a player, but as an individual.

Definition: Sportsmanship - Honorable or sportsmen like conduct.

All players are expected to show good sportsmanship at all times.  As a player you must understand your responsibilities.

  1. Accept and understand the seriousness of responsibility, and the privilege of representing yourself, you team, and your community.
  2. Live up to the standards of sportsmanship established by the HRA Program and the coaching staff.
  3. Learn the rules of the game thoroughly and discuss them with parents, fans, and fellow students.  This will assist both them and you in the achievement of a better understanding and appreciation of the sport.
  4. Treat opponents the way you would like to be treated, as a guest or friend.  Who better than you can understand all the hard work and team effort that is required for your sport?
  5. Wish opponents good luck before the contest and congratulate them in a sincere manner that you would like to be greeted following a victory or defeat..
  6. Respect the integrity and judgment of contest officials.  The officials are doing their best to help promote you and your sport.   Treating them with respect, even if you disagree with their judgment, will only make a positive impression of you and your team in the eyes of the officials and all the people at the event.

Remember displaying acts of poor sportsmanship which includes but is not limited to: fighting, swearing, taunting, arguing with an official or supervisor, or arguing with the other team, could cause you to be ejected from the game and placed on suspension from future games.
